Objective:
  • Provide free, accessible and basic training on poison prevention and awareness to educators throughout the state.
  • Introduce educators to free online resources regarding poison safety, prevention and treatment.
  • Provide educators with information necessary to educate their community members on poison safety and prevention.
  • Empower educators to share materials, training and programs with members of their local communities.

By completing this training, you become registered as a Poison Prevention Educator with the Illinois Poison Center (IPC).  The main goal of the Poison Prevention Educator is to create awareness about poison prevention and safety and to promote the IPC toll-free hot line number (1-800-222-1222) and professional services.

Poison Prevention Educators are encouraged to integrate IPC poison prevention and safety materials into their current and future education and outreach efforts.

The Illinois Poison Center will provide registered Poison Prevention Educators with FREE:

  • Educational/presentation materials
  • Newsletters
  • Presentation Tools 
  • Continuing education and support
