Make Safety a Priority at Summer Camp Day camps are popular places for children during the summer months. But they are not without poisoning concerns, which provide great opportunities for poison prevention education. Educators can either contact the camps before they begin to educate camp counselors, or wait until children arrive to teach them directly about poison safety. |

Dangers Associated with Epipens® Epipen® is an auto-injector that administers epinephrine, which is the definitive emergency treatment for severe allergic reactions. These reactions, called anaphylaxis, can be deadly within minutes if untreated. However, an accidental injection or misuse of the Epipen® also can have dangerous consequences. In fact, in the last 18 months, the Illinois Poison Center has received 70 calls regarding Epipen® injections, with the vast majority of them occurring in the warmer summer months. |
