Separating the Good from the Bad –
Educate Parents about Look-Alike Products
 

Was that a Skittle® or a Coricidin® tablet? Was that a cup of apple juice or Pine Sol®? Each year, the Illinois Poison Center receives thousands of calls regarding medications and household cleaning products. More than half of these calls concern children under the age of 6. And many times, it’s a matter of someone not being able to tell one product apart from another.

Vista Health Systems – Integrating with EMS

Vista Health Systems (VHS) has joined the Illinois Poison Center as a volunteer satellite education center, with Mary O’Connor serving as the satellite coordinator.

This partnership will prove instrumental to the IPC in many ways. One major benefit is that VHS provides education and outreach in east Lake County, an area of the state where IPC has little presence at this time. With a dedicated educator, the IPC hopes to increase awareness of its services in this area.
