Mr. Donald Baumgartner, United States EPA
About the speaker: Donald Baumgartner holds a Master of Science from the University of Illinois in general Biology with a specialty in Medical Entomology, and is currently employed as a Life Scientist in the Pesticides Program Section at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 in Chicago . At the EPA Donald provides technical assistance to States, industry, and citizens throughout a six State area in the upper Midwest in the areas of agricultural worker protection, urban/structural pest control, school IPM, public health, the Pesticides Urban Initiative, mosquito control and the West Nile Virus, and general pesticide regulations. Don’s past employment includes service as a researcher and field supervisor for mosquito control in private industry and local government, Manager of the Northern Illinois Lyme Disease Project, researcher on honey bees, insect preparator at the Chicago Field Museum , educator of college and adult courses in biology, ornithology, botany, and entomology, and work in forensic entomology. Don also currently serves as Adjunct Faculty at Harper College in Palatine as an instructor of general biology and environmental courses.
