INTRODUCTION TO CAREERS IN LABORATORY AND DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE

Medical technology is continually expanding to find new diagnostic methods that will determine the presence, absence or extent of disease in the body's fluids, tissues and cells. Sophisticated diagnostic equipment requires skilled professionals to conduct and monitor the many diagnostic tests. These professionals perform scientific tests, analyze the data and present the results to a physician for a diagnosis.

The field of medical technology is growing rapidly and advancing as new tests, new techniques and new equipment are being found everyday. Laboratory workers and diagnostic technicians may advance to various levels by acquiring additional education and technical experience.
