The mission of the Illinois Poison Center (IPC) is to provide state-of-the-art poison prevention and treatment information to health care providers. Through its services, the IPC seeks to improve the quality of patient outcomes, decrease the numbers of unnecessary emergency department visits, and allow for better use of health care resources. As part of its public health mission, the IPC educates pharmacy students, medical students and medical residents who complete training and rotations in the call center.
