The Illinois Poison Center serves all of Illinois 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Staffed by nurses, physicians, pharmacists and other poison specialists, the IPC offers free, confidential poison prevention advice and treatment recommendations via a toll-free hot line, 1-800-222-1222.

All of us are at risk for a poisoning exposure, from infants to older adults, from college students to parents.

The IPC answered nearly 100,000 calls in 2008 on household products, herbal products, medication overdoses, adverse reactions to medications, alcohol or drug misuse, occupational accidents, chemical spills and other poisonings.
